Flamengo going through Brilliant Form

Brazilian outfit Flamengo have been on a spectacular run of form over the last few weeks, which have seen them only suffer one defeat in the last five matches.

However, they crashed to yet another defeat after a poor performance against Botafogo. Eduardo da Silva has been quite impressive for the club since returning back Brazilian football. He has scored eight goals in just 10 league starts this season. He was once again on the scoresheet against Botafogo, but this goal came a little too late for the club that is fighting to stay in touch with the table leaders.

Botafogo had taken the lead in the first half through Rogerio before Wallyson doubled their advantage in the 67th minute. Just when it seemed that the hope of three points were completely beyond them, Eduardo da Silva stepped up to score a goal with 15 minutes of normal time remaining on the clock. This goal did not turn out to be nothing more than a consolation, as Flamengo were unable to get the much-needed equaliser. The former Shakhtar Donetsk and Arsenal forward claimed that the incredible resilience shown by Botafogo should be congratulated as they were simply not ready to get beaten on the day.

He has targeted a much better performance in the club’s next league match against Atlético Mineiro in the Copa do Brazil.“Botafogo game is to be congratulated for what he did, we knew we would be further complicated by the temperature, but we try. We can not win and now we must turn our attention to the game Wednesday in the Brazilian Cup,” said the striker after the match. The result has left Flamengo a long way away from the top, which continues to be dominated by the likes of São Paulo, Gremio, and Cruzeiro.
