Robinho said that he would be supporting Manchester City over Real Madrid

Former Brazilian international Robinho said that he would be supporting Manchester City over Real Madrid ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash.

Robinho stated that he hopes that Manchester City win the tie and make it to the finals. He said that Manchester City made a big investment in him and that this is a title that they have not won yet.

Manchester City made it to the semi-finals by beating the French side Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 on aggregate.

Real Madrid overturned a 2-0 deficit against Wolfsburg to qualify for the semi –final. They were surprisingly defeated in Germany, but a Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick was enough to get them in the semi-final. Real Madrid will be competing for their 11th Champions League title while Manchester City will be hoping to win it for the first time.

The first leg of the game will be held at the Etihad Stadium on April 26th while the return leg will be on the 4th of May.
Robinho has played for both Real Madrid and Manchester City during his career. He made his debut for Real Madrid in the 2005-2006 season after having signed from Santos. He will go on and make 135 appearances for the Spanish side and scored 35 goals along the way. He won the Spanish title twice with Real Madrid in 2007 and 2008.

In 2008, he made the switch to Manchester City following a €42.5 million transfer. He started his career well with Manchester City where he will score 15 goals in 41 appearances in his first season. However his second season with the club will be hindered by injuries, and he will end up making only 10 appearances for the club. He will ultimately leave the club and return to Santos on loan.
