MONACO MOVE?

French giants Monaco has been a lot of interest in signing AC Milan forward Robinho, who has been looking for a move away from the club for the last few months. He has been heavily linked with a move away from the San Siro in the January transfer window.

Santos were really interested in him during the summer, but talks between the Brazilian and the Italian outfits did not progress sufficiently in order for the transfer to take place. Robinho has ended up staying at Milan, who have endured a terrible run of form in the first half of the season.

This led to the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri, who has been replaced by Clarence Seedorf a few weeks ago. The former Milan midfielder has returned to the club with his first managerial, but it could see the departure of Robinho. The former Manchester city man has been made as the number one transfer target for Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri, who has seen enough of Robinho during his time at Inter Milan.

Monaco has been the big spending club in the French league, but their £ 50 million acquisition in the summer – Radamel Falcao – has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury. Robinho is expected to come in the replacement if Monaco reach an agreement with Milan.

The Brazilian forward has made 24 appearances in all competitions and has managed to score just five goals. This dismay run of form, however, does not seem to vary Ranieri, as they seek a quality replacement for Falcao. Following the loss of Falcao to injury, Monaco have been struggling in the league and are currently second in the table. There are already several points behind leaders Paris St Germain, which could force them to concede the title.
