ROBINHO ON THE VERGE OF HISTORY WITH TURKISH CLUB

Former Manchester City forward Robinho is on the verge of making history with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir. The 35-year-old had completed a move from another Turkish outfit Sivassporin January as the club looked to consolidate its attack.

Robinho earned the move to the club having netted eight times in 18 appearances during his time at Sivasspor.  Now deployed in the number 10 position the Brazilian has become an important part of the Basaksehir squad since he joined in January. The flamboyant attacker has made such appearances netting once for the league leaders.

Basaksehirhave shown this season that the 3rd placed finish of last season was not a fluke. Buoyed by a deep squad the Istanbul outfit has been the surprise of the season.

Former Premier League players such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, KerimFrei and Demba Ba have helped push the club towards a potential title campaign ahead of Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fernabache.

Arda Turan has also been a great addition to the midfield from Barcelona while veteran midfielder EmreBelozogu continues to shine at the age of 38.

Istanbul Basaksehirhave won the most matches and conceded the lowest number of goals in the Turkish Super League. The club currently leads Galatasaray by six points with 11 games remaining in the season. Basaksehir last league match saw the club defeat Bursaspor 3-0 at home as the team laid down a marker for their title challengers.

Robinho would be one of the players that would be banked upon to help deliver the league title.  He has the relevant experience and is among one of the older players in the club. The Brazilian has enjoyed a trophy-laden career winning league titles in Brazil,Spain,Italy and China it would be no surprise if he leads Basaksehir to another league title.
