Robinho Unlikely To Move To Estadio do Maracana

The vice president of Flamengo, Mr. Wallim Vasconcellos, has said that the Brazilian forward Robinho who is currently a player of the Italian club AC Milan is unlikely to make a move to Estadio do Maracana this summer.

Robinho had not been prolific for Milan in the last season and in all likelihood, he would be put on sale by them in the upcoming transfer window. There were reports that Flamengo is interested in the 30-year old and he might be making his way back to his motherland Brazil, but, now after Vasconcellos’ statement, it doesn’t seem to be happening.

Robinho is also believed to have been approached by the American club Orlando City which is going to start participating in Major League Soccer from the next season.

It would be interesting to see what the Brazilian international decides. Orlando would be offering him a high salary, but, the standard of football over there in America would not be the greatest and playing there might affect his international career. So, he has to make a decision.

Robinho’s international career is already kind of over though. He didn’t manage to find a place in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup and by the time the next World Cup comes, he would be 34 years of age and the chances are very less that he would be taken into consideration. So, even if he plays in a league of higher standard, there is no guarantee that he would be called back to the Brazilian national team.

Robinho has played a lot of football at the international level. He has featured more than 90 times for Brazil and that is why some people were surprised at his exclusion from the World Cup squad.
Robinho has 27 international goals under his belt.
