Robinho wants to emulate Neymar’s success with Santos

Santos is a Brazilian club where both Neymar and Robinho signed their first professional club and made their way into the youth academy of the team before making their name and joining a top club. Neymar went on to join Barcelona while Robinho travelled to Real Madrid.
After making impressive performance in the youth team of Santos, Neymar and Robinho attracted the attention of major European clubs which were willing to offload hefty price tags in order to sign them.
Neymar has so far lived up to all the expectations that originated when he moved to Barcelona as the Brazilian attacker is a consistent performer and helps out the Spanish team in scoring goals by playing alongside Lionel Messi and have turned into a reliable source of goals.
Robinho on the other hand, is a completely different story as he has not managed to become the player that was expected of him. The first top European club that Robinho joined was Real Madrid before he made his move to Manchester City and in neither of those clubs, he managed to make or leave his mark.
He is now a player of Ac.Milan but the Italian club decided to loan him to Santos and it seems to be that it’s the only place where he can make standout performances as he recently scored his 100th and 101th goal for Santos and Robinho said that he wants to emulate what Neymar accomplished with Santos.
“I do not think about my individual statistics but I think I can catch up Neymar and when he comes back he will surpass me again. Scoring 100 goals with the club where I grew up makes me very happy. I am very grateful, if even happier, with the victory for Santos. We could have scored more goals but we must prepare for the second leg which will also be difficult’’ Robinho said following the victory of Santos over Botafogo in a match of the Brazilian Cup.
During the time that Neymar spent as a player of Santos, he managed to score 138 goals and Robinho is hoping that he can reach and maybe even break that mark.
